Katie had the ability to light up the room with her infectious smile and comforting eyes. Her outer beauty was as strong as her inner heart, and she could touch anyone’s heart from within. Katie's hugs filled everyone with joy and she gained the love and respect of everyone she came into contact with. Classmates, teammates, coaches, teachers, kids and adults all agree that Katie was truly special. Although young at heart, she held the wisdom of an old soul and was the epitome of “giving the shirt off her back.”  Katie would often offer her lunch to a friend to avoid them feeling hungry. She enjoyed making smoothies, (even if they weren’t always delicious, they were always appreciated), and learning Tae Kwon Do, which gave her courage.

Her mom Kimberly, was the only thing she loved more than volleyball. Katie was kind, sassy, thoughtful, determined, hard-working, and inclusive. She didn’t believe in strangers, they were merely friends she hadn’t met yet, friends who became family- a family of many. Although taken from this world far too soon, Katie will not be forgotten. Her character and legacy will serve as an example of how one should live- kind, loving, selfless and courageous, through her mom Kimberly and the Katie Grace Foundation.
